Man in Prison Over Stealing of Teenager’s Pant

A 29-year-old man, Rasaq Iyanda has been arraigned before an Osogbo magistrate court for allegedly removing the pant of a teenager.

It was gathered that the suspect take-off the pant of the victim, Halimat Raheem while she was sleeping in her parents room at about 2pm.

The charge sheet read in the court revealed that the suspect committed the offence on February 6, 2019 at Dalegan compound Osogbo.

The offence committed, the charge sheet disclosed is contrary and punishable under section 360 of the criminal code cap 34 vol ii Laws of osun-state of Nigeria 2002.

However, the accused pleaded Not-guilty to the one count charge preferred against him.

Defence counsel, Tunbosun Oladipupo humbly apply for the bail of the accused person in the most affordable and liberal terms.

The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police,  Olayiwola Rasak, while opposing the application stated that the offence committed by the accused person is a very serious one that if bail is granted at this stage the accused person would not the gravity of the alleged crime.

Olayiwola also made mention that the offence is coming rampant in the society, adding that there is need deal severely with the perpetrators of such offence.

He also disclosed that if the accused person is granted bail there is a possibility for him to commit the crime again.

The prosecutor finally urged the magistrate that bail shouldn’t be granted to the accused person at this stage.

The magistrate M.A Awodele then adjourned the case to March 3, 2019 for ruling on bail, adding that the accused person should be remanded in Ilesha prison custody.
